Hip Restaurants near Nationals Park DC
Where to eat before and after the game, starting at Jackie, 79 Potomac Ave SE
Jackie: skip the stadium line, keep the table.
Which Restaurant near Nationals Park Should You Start With?
Start with Jackie Restaurant, an American restaurant at 79 Potomac Ave SE in Navy Yard, directly across from Nationals Park. The kitchen belongs to Executive Chef Domenico Cornacchia, and the menu reads like a good dinner rather than a stadium concession: a Jurgielewicz Farm half chicken roasted with baby carrots and pearl onions ($35), Angus short ribs with butter-poached carrots and bordelaise ($36), steak frites with a 12 oz petite filet ($35), and the Jackie Burger, prime Angus with caramelized onion and gruyère ($23). To start, a pound of Black Diamond mussels in white wine and wild fennel is $15.
The bar keeps its prices on game nights: $5 beer, $7 wine by the glass and $9 cocktails from 4 to 6 PM, Tuesday to Sunday. The two hours before first pitch have their own page, happy hour at Jackie before first pitch, and the wider neighborhood, by occasion rather than by star rating, is in our guide to Navy Yard restaurants.
This page is the short version for a game day in Washington DC: one sit-down table, then the eight addresses on the same stretch, so you can pick by mood and not by proximity alone.
Which Restaurants near Nationals Park Are on the Game-Day Stretch?
Potomac Avenue SE and the blocks north of it toward M Street are the game-day stretch, and Jackie is the sit-down option on it. Its neighbors, all verified open in September 2026, with the one thing each does best:
The Salt Line, 79 Potomac Ave SE
New England seafood on the ground floor of the Dock 79 building, directly across from the ballpark.
Dacha Beer Garden Navy Yard, 79 Potomac Ave SE
A German-style beer garden at the same address as Jackie, from the same owners, for the night that wants a bench and a liter rather than a tablecloth.
Solace Outpost, 71 Potomac Ave SE
A taproom with a wraparound patio that holds about 550 people, opposite the home-plate entrance; the loudest pregame on the block by design.
The Bullpen, 1201 Half St SE
The outdoor beer garden that has served Nationals fans since 2009, open around home games.
Walters Sports Bar, 10 N St SE
Thirty televisions and a 24-tap self-pour beer wall; opened in 2019 for exactly the crowd you would expect.
Royal Sands Social Club, 26 N St SE
A 14,000-square-foot Florida beach-club bar with three bars and a Florida-style pub sub on the menu.
Mission Navy Yard, 1221 Van St SE
A large bar and restaurant one street west of the Half Street ballpark gates, built for groups.
Circa at Navy Yard, 99 M St SE
New American with an all-day bar menu, part of a DC group that has run neighborhood bistros since 2005.
How Do You Time Dinner Around First Pitch?
Before an evening game, book a table from four and eat at the bar prices until six. For an afternoon start the order flips: the game first, then a late dinner, since Jackie is open until 10 PM Tuesday through Sunday. Jackie is closed on Mondays, which matters when a homestand opens on one.
Getting here: the Green Line stops at Navy Yard-Ballpark, 1155 New Jersey Ave SE, the only Metro station in the neighborhood, and every address above is within a ten-minute walk of it. On foot, Potomac Avenue is the spine that connects the ballpark, Audi Field and the riverfront. The ballpark garages are cashless, and so is Jackie.
The day of the week adds a layer on top of the bar prices. Tuesdays bring $5 martinis at the bar. Thursdays take 50% off every bottle of wine on the list. On Fridays the room opens at noon for brunch, which runs to 4 PM and hands straight over to the bar prices, so a Friday night game can start with eggs and end with a pint without a second reservation.
