Jackie Restaurant Unveils “Jackie” Painting by Renowned Artist Anna U Davis

Washington, D.C., March 11, 2025 – Jackie Restaurant is proud to announce the unveiling of its latest artistic centerpiece, a 6 x 14-foot painting titled Jackie, created by acclaimed Swedish American artist Anna U Davis. The grand unveiling event will take place on Friday, April 11, 2025.

A Masterful Rendition Inspired by Hieronymus Bosch

Jackie is a contemporary reinterpretation of Hieronymus Bosch’s famed triptych, The Garden of Earthly Delights. Anna U Davis masterfully adapts Bosch’s exploration of humanity’s fate into a narrative centered on Jackie Kennedy’s journey. Like Bosch’s triptych, Davis’ painting features:

  • Earthly Paradise (Eden): Depicting Jackie’s early life and rise to prominence.

  • The Garden of Earthly Delights: Showcasing her influential role in American culture and her enduring legacy.

  • Hell: Reflecting the challenges and adversities she faced throughout her life.

A seamless horizon line symbolizes the interconnectedness of Jackie Kennedy’s experiences with broader human themes of paradise, fulfillment, and struggle.

About the Artist: Anna U. Davis

Anna U. Davis, born in Lund, Sweden, is celebrated for her bold, colorful mixed-media paintings that delve into social inequalities. After relocating to Washington, D.C., in the 1990s, Davis expanded her artistic repertoire and developed her signature “Frocasian” characters—abstracted grey-toned figures inspired by her interracial marriage and commitment to social justice.

A two-time recipient of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, Davis has earned multiple fellowships from the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities. Her work has been featured in prestigious venues such as the Swedish American Museum in Chicago, Galerie Myrtis in Baltimore, the Embassy of Sweden in Washington, D.C., and Davis Gallery in Copenhagen. In 2023, Davis was a keynote speaker on art and female empowerment at the Hirshhorn Museum’s State of the Arts Night.

Jackie marks Davis’s latest contribution to the dialogue on historical legacy and cultural influence.
