February (1790s-1810s)
Development of Distillation
The first tax levied by the newly independent American States was against a burgeoning and lucrative industry...whiskey. It did not go well. In the spirit of the Whiskey Rebellion of the 1790s, we present February's cocktail:
Smoke of the Fathers
Rittenhouse Rye & Rosemary Smoked Old Fashioned with allspice syrup, orange & Angostura bitters
Because nothing in life is certain except death, taxes, and alcohol.
